(OPINION) Despite Pride month being nearly two weeks away, Target has already rolled out LGBTQ sections in its stores and on its website. The retail giant is facing backlash for selling “tuck-friendly” bathing suits and LGBTQ onesies for babies.
Target offers 2,351 products in its Pride collection, including clothing, items for pets, home furnishings, stationery, books, music, and movies.
There are “gender fluid” mugs, “queer all year” calendars, “trans pride, trans power” cards, and Pride Milkbone dog treats. There are books for children ages 4 to 8 titled: “The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish, Swish, Swish,” “Bye Bye, Binary,”
Target also sells LGBTQ T-shirts celebrating drag queens and shirts that read: “Trans people will always exist,” “Support trans futures,” “Say gay,” “Homophobia, transphobia can be treated with education,” “Trans pride, trans power,” and “Sorry, can’t think straight.”
