On a glum, overcast day in Arlington, Virginia, Joe Biden was doing his utmost in an address at the Pentagon to conjure up the dignity and solemnity requisite for a president to mark the 21st anniversary of the terror attacks on 9/11.
Biden, clumsily playing the role of an elder statesman, switched haphazardly from somber tones to inappropriately bombastic rhetoric, as if drawing a parallel between the War on Terror and the regime’s imaginary War on MAGA.
“It’s not enough to gather and remember each September 11th those we lost … because on this day, it is not about the past, it’s about the future,” Biden intoned. “We have an obligation, a duty, a responsibility, to defend, preserve and protect our democracy.”
Biden’s invocation of the duty to ‘protect our democracy’ is a familiar gloss of lofty rhetoric that belies darker undertones. It is an allusion to the ruling party’s efforts to inextricably tie a few dozen violent January 6 rioters to hundreds of MAGA tourists charged with federal crimes such as trespassing and parading without a permit at the capitol building.
The Biden regime has stretched this tenuous thread even further by drawing a parallel between January 6 rioters and 74 million law-abiding voters who cast a vote for Donald Trump in the 2020 election. The regime has now snapped this red thread by pulling it beyond the breaking point: Its clarion call in defense of ‘democracy’ against imaginary ‘MAGA terrorists,’ in reality, millions of people’s flag-waving and peace-loving neighbors, is an ominous allusion to murderous jihadists who waged war on the United States in an incendiary salvo that has repercussions for Americans to this very day, twenty one years later.
Despite the media’s persistence in the delusion that January 6 was an “insurrection,” one will find no such charges for this federal crime after a search of the Justice Department’s documents. Nor will one find defendants charged for carrying firearms into the Capitol building during the purported effort to forcibly ‘overturn’ the results of the election. One will not find charges for homicide, murder, or manslaughter; again, only the unarmed Trump supporter Ashli Babbitt was killed in the riot. The hard evidence that can be stacked up in a court of law simply fails to support the Democrats’ specious narrative; thus, it has taken to pressing its mendacious case in the court of public opinion. The solemn occasion of 9/11 anniversary presents but another opportunity for shameless electioneering for a party whose thirst for power has overwhelmed its sense of dignity or propriety.
If President Biden’s phrasing were stripped of context and presented as a stand alone to America’s children at a future date, it appears to be self-evident truth. Of course, the U.S. should defend ‘democracy,’ albeit that term means something different to the Biden regime than the way most Americans take it: The inclusion of citizens’ voices in their own governance, the freedom to speak, be heard, and to choose, and the right to have free, fair, and accurate elections.
Democratic Senator Mark Warner was more blunt than Biden in drawing a comparison between January 6 protesters and 9/11 terrorists.
“The stunning thing to me is here we are 20 years later and the attack on the symbol of our democracy was not coming from terrace, but it came from literally insurgents attacking the capital on January 6th,” Warner claimed.
Thus, the Biden regime’s allusion to ‘protecting our democracy’ is not an innocuous reference, but must be seen in the context of its ongoing war against Trump supporters. Yet the commander-in-chief’s military resume thus far in office entails a failed effort to safely and sensibly withdraw U.S. military troops and hardware from a two-decades-long Afghan War, which was relevantly spurred by 9/11 itself. If the American people were to believe President Biden truly cared about the anniversary of 9/11, it would have helped his cause if he had brought that nearly interminable war to an honorable end.
Further martial efforts for President Biden include NATO brinksmanship overseas that risks a regional war with a nuclear-armed adversary over a country where the president’s son Hunter Biden, coincidentally, just so happened to have made a dubious personal fortune — apparently, while yielding ten percent to ‘the big guy.’
But the war that has Joe Biden most charged up is the one against his domestic adversaries, whose purportedly nefarious motto is to “Make America Great Again.” On September 10, President Biden’s account issued forth the following missive.
“MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love,” the @POTUS Twitter account claimed. “But together, we can choose a different path forward.”
It is a line ripped from his hyperpolitical speech in Philadelphia dubbed, “Battle for the Soul of the Nation.” It was a ‘primetime’ speech in the sense it was intended to ‘prime’ Americans for the regime’s coming extreme actions against its political adversaries. Those extreme actions would come a week later in a series of dozens of FBI actions against Trump allies.
The imagery of the Biden speech was unmistakably martial; a vociferous president clenching his fists in furor was set against the familiar red backdrop that has been the preferred mise en scène for communist and fascist dictators throughout history. Behind him stood two Marines at attention, reminders of both the implied power of the presidency, and the way that this petty tyrant has utterly failed to dignify and honor the military.
Since this disgraceful display of partisan vitriol, the president has ridiculously posed as a ‘uniter.’ It is a desperate, albeit inevitable, ploy that is an attempt to prevent moderate and independent support from completely crumbling. Even in his Philadelphia speech, he scratched together a few lines together so as not to condemn all Trump voters as would-be terrorists, and even ludicrously harkened back to the consummate partisan Barack Obama in his famous 2004 convention speech: “But I’m an American President — not the President of red America or blue America, but of all America.”
The Biden regime has since dispatched its FBI cronies to harass and intimidate American citizens who had the temerity to assist and support former President Donald Trump. This is what the White House means when it talks about ‘protecting our democracy.’ It means conducing unprecedented FBI raids on a former president, targeting his campaign arm with criminal investigations, and perp-walking his former advisers to show trials.
But unlike the 9/11 attacks on that Tuesday morning twenty-one years ago to the day, these attacks on our ‘democracy’ did not come out of the clear blue skies. The War on Terror has predictably transformed into a silent war on Americans who would resist the incipient tyranny that is about to be foisted on them by a ruthless, authoritarian regime.
The Patriot Act was the first warning to Americans that the meaning of ‘patriotism’ was about to commandeered and warped through its justification of creeping invasions of privacy. It was through this act, which founded a federal internal police agency known as the Department of Homeland Security, that we have lost countless liberties.
The jihadist terrorists have faded as a threat in our historical memory, but the institutions founded in the name of battling this now-vanquished enemy have carried on that fight — but in the guise of providing surveillance and security against internal threats. And too often, those internal threats have been characterized as ‘far-right extremists,’ whose warning signs might include flying the Gadsden flag, Betsy Ross, Liberty Tree or certain other flags.
The DHS rarely if ever releases memos that highlight the dangers of violent radical organizations like Antifa or the Black Lives Matter movement, which killed dozens of people and did billions of dollars in damages. These double standards are not merely an academic point, they belie the dangerous raison d’etre of such security institutions to begin with. They present a clear and present danger to Americans if and when any radical political party should decide to weaponize it.
The decay of human freedom and loss of rights in America has compounded the grief and tragedy of the 2,977 lives lost at Ground Zero and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, as well as the 184 lives lost at the Pentagon. 9/11 was a symbolic attack on America’s freedom and way of life. Sadly, the nation’s ruling class has accomplished what the terrorists themselves could not: It has taken a nation founded as a beacon of liberty in a world of repression and has vowed to fundamentally transform it into one of oppression and tyranny.
