News Network Generated by Artificial Intelligence to Launch in 2024

Channel 1 is set to launch an all-AI news coverage system in 2024.

The reporters appear to be human but are made with digital scans of a real person, with digitally-generated voices.

“From global news, to finance, to entertainment, we’ll show you how technology enables us to bring you a global perspective 24/7,” an AI reporter says in a video.

“You can hear us and see our lips moving, but no one was recorded saying what we’re all saying,” another reporter says. “I’m powered by sophisticated systems behind the scenes.”

The digital journalist tells audiences that everything on Channel 1 “relies on trusted sources and fact-checking,” although another adds that it is “possible to create footage of events where cameras were not able to capture the action.

One of the technology’s creators, Adam Mosam, told The Hollywood Reporter in July that the AI-generated content could be compared to courtroom sketches.

“The closest analogy I could give is when you talk about a trial that was covered with ‘there’s no cameras allowed’ and you’ll see the courtroom sketch,” Mosam said. “What we’re looking to do potentially is to add visuals where we would clearly denote this is generated imagery. So we’re not trying to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes to say like, ‘Our cameras were inside the Oval Office when this meeting happened.’”
