Fauci Received Warnings Against Vaccine Mandates: Emails

The Epoch Times obtained emails between Dr. Matthew Memoli, director of the Laboratory of Infectious Diseases clinical studies unit at the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), and Dr. Anthony Fauci revealing that Fauci was warned against implementing a vaccine mandate.

“At best what we are doing with mandated mass vaccination does nothing and the variants emerge evading immunity anyway as they would have without the vaccine,” Memoli wrote. “At worst it drives evolution of the virus in a way that is different from nature and possibly detrimental, prolonging the pandemic or causing more morbidity and mortality than it should.”

“Coercing or forcing people to take a vaccine can have negative consequences from a biological, sociological, psychological, economical, and ethical standpoint and is not worth the cost even if the vaccine is 100% safe,” he added.

The doctor emphasized that officials should not be pushing the COVID-19 vaccine “on the young and healthy any further.”

“I believe that the new mandates are a major mistake and should be rescinded immediately,” Memoli noted. “This will not do any good and will cause biological and/or social harm to the medical community and our country as a whole.”

Former National Institutes of Health (NIH) head Francis Collins expressed similar concerns over COVID-19 mandates, admitting that lockdowns and other public health measures were “mistakes.”

“If you’re a public health person, and you’re trying to make a decision, you have this very narrow view of what the right decision is, and that is something that will save a life,” he said. “Doesn’t matter what else happens. You attach infinite value to stopping the disease and saving a life. You attach zero value to whether this actually totally disrupts people’s lives, ruins the economy, and has many kids kept out of school in a way that they never might quite recover from. Collateral damage. This is a public health mindset.”

“And I think a lot of us involved in trying to make those recommendations had that mindset – and that was really unfortunate,” he said. “It’s another mistake we made.”
