New York City has provided sanctuary to over 46,000 asylum seekers since 2013, when the city passed a law prohibiting city agencies from cooperating with federal immigration enforcement agencies unless there is a warrant for the person’s arrest.
Data from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed that thousands of illegal immigrants have been flown to at least 45 cities in the United States.
These secret flights involving at least 320,0000 migrants were reported by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), which filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
CBP lawyers wrote that revealing which airports were receiving the migrants would disclose “information about the relative number of individuals arriving, and thus resources expended at particular airports,” according to The Daily Mail.
Such information would then expose “operational vulnerabilities that could be exploited by bad actors altering their patterns of conduct, adopting new methods of operation, and taking other countermeasures,” the lawyers explained.
Between January and August 2023, the top 15 U.S. cities serving as migrant flight locations were:
- Miami, FL: 91,821
- Ft. Lauderdale, FL: 60,461
- New York City, NY: 14,827
- Houston, TX: 7,923
- Orlando, FL: 6,043
- Los Angeles, CA: 3,271
- Tampa, FL: 3,237
- Dallas, TX: 2,256
- San Francisco, CA: 2,052
- Atlanta, GA: 1,796
- Newark, NJ: 1,498
- Washington, D.C.: 1,472
- Chicago, IL: 496
- Las Vegas, NV: 483
- Austin, TX: 171
There are also 1.6 million migrants waiting for approval to be flown to a U.S. city.

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) responded to the migrant flight information, saying the Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan (CHNV) parole program is an “unlawful sleight of hand used to hide the worsening border crisis from the American people.”
“Implementing a program that allows otherwise inadmissible aliens to fly directly into the U.S.––not for significant public benefit or urgent humanitarian reasons as the Immigration and Nationality Act mandates––has been proven an impeachable offense,” he continued. “Following our subpoena and the House’s impeachment vote––especially in light of the Senate’s complete failure to fulfill its duty to hold a trial––the Committee will not rest until this administration is finally held accountable for its open-borders agenda and its devastating impact on our homeland security.”
