New reports are coming in stating that the disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) is set to be arrested next week on a misdemeanor charge for allegedly groping a former aide.
A source told The New York Post that this has come about thanks to an investigation by Albany County District Attorney David Soares. A State Office of Court Administration spokesperson has since confirmed that a misdemeanor complaint against Cuomo “has been filed in Albany City Court.”
“As this is a sex crime, a redacted complaint will be available shortly,” added spokesman Lucian Chalfen.
The source went on to say that the fact that Cuomo is about to be arrested is likely why Attorney General Letitia James told a key union leader yesterday that she’ll be launching a campaign for governor “shortly.” James is likely to announce that she is challenging Gov. Kathy Hochul just before Cuomo is arrested next week, according to the insider.
James detailed this alleged groping incident in an August 3 report that also accused Cuomo of harassing 11 women, including nine current or former state workers. Soares opened his criminal investigation after this report was released.
Less than a week later, Brittany Commisso, an administrative assistant in the governor’s office, claimed in a tearful interview with “CBS This Morning” that Cuomo had “put his hand up my blouse and cupped my breast over my bra” inside Albany’s Executive Mansion in November.
“The governor needs to be held accountable,” said Commisso, 33. “What he did to me was a crime. He broke the law.”
Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said that Commisso later spent “several hours” being interviewed by investigators after subpoenas were issued about her allegations. Her claims against Cuomo are the most serious ones that were included…
