As the Biden administration pushes green energy policies, the United States has become dependent upon Chinese supplies for the U.S. electric grid.
“If they’re able to knock the grid out, basically modern society is going to fall,” according to the Director of the Energy, Environment, and Agriculture Task Force at the American Legislative Exchange Counsel, Joe Trotter.
“The modern grid runs our whole infrastructure and without power, we don’t have refrigeration, our food supply goes down, our water supply goes down,” Trotter added.
On March 23, Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) said during a Senate Energy Committee hearing that the “director of the U.S. cybersecurity and infrastructure security agency warned us just a few weeks ago about China; she said that in the case of an invasion of Taiwan, China would likely launch cyber attacks against America’s critical energy infrastructure.”
“The Biden administration has, wrongly, prioritized greening of the grid over the reliability of energy production and delivery,” Barrasso continued, noting, “This is a dangerous mistake.”
Reporting from The Epoch Times:
In May 2020, U.S. federal officials seized a 500,000-pound transformer that had just been imported from China on its way to the Western Area Power Administration, a utility in Colorado. The confiscated transformer was then transported under guard to Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, N.M. to a laboratory operated by Honeywell International Inc., which was under contract with the U.S. Energy Department to investigate national-security threats. According to Latham Saddler, former director of intelligence at the National Security Council under the Trump administration, “They found hardware that was put into that [transformer], that had the ability for somebody in China to switch it off.”
