According to raw temperature data, there have been NO extreme temperature changes in the U.S. over the past century
The United States Historical Climatology Record provides raw data on the mean temperature in the U.S. from 1895 to 2023. Over the past 128 years, the average temperature reading has fluctuated up and down slightly, but there haven’t been any significant warming trends over that time, and the fluctuations have not been extreme at all.
The warming effects of carbon dioxide may be demonstrated on a small scale, but these small-scale experiments are just a speck in the grand scheme of things and cannot be extrapolated at scale, especially when the resiliency and adaptability of the planet is capable of absorbing minuscule human effects. Sometimes a recipe cannot be scaled linearly.
The raw data confirm that man made activities haven’t had an impact on average temperatures across a century or so. To make matters worse, modern day climatologists are toggling the data to account for alleged biases that they believed occurred during the collection of temperature data many decades ago. The real biases in temperature reporting are occurring today, as climatologists try to affirm what they want to see.
The average temperature over a century or so has not experienced significant extremes, especially in the last twenty years, when climate alarmists were preaching that the end of the world is near. Moreover, there have been insignificant changes to coastlines over that same time, suggesting that even melting ice caps are being replaced under the ocean, as temperatures fluctuate from year to year.
The values reported by the media are shown in red. The red line indicates adjustments that were made to the raw data to make it appear that warming is occurring. The adjustments were made because some climatologists believe in a “Time of Observation Bias.” This theory proposes that the temperatures measured one hundred years ago were much lower because the COOP station observers did not reset their min/max thermometers before they went to bed. This is preposterous, considering that any observer at the temperature station back then would correct this mistake after a few days of using the thermometers incorrectly. The real bias in temperature reporting is occurring today, under the auspices of correcting biases of yesteryear.
Modern day reporters artificially toggle the mean temperature to adjust for this theoretical bias in temperature reporting from many years ago. The climate warming trends that we hear about in the media today come from TODAY’S significant adjustments to the raw data, based on climate theories and biases that are regarded as evidence-based.
However, when the raw data is considered, there are no consistent warming trend over several decades. In fact, the ten warmest years by raw data are as follows:
- One: 2012
- Two: 1921
- Three: 1931
- Four: 1934
- Five: 1998
- Six: 2016
- Seven: 1953
- Eight: 1938
- Nine: 1939
- Ten: 2015
Collective action against “climate change” is a delusional, hysterical pursuit
If there’s no significant change in mean temperature over the past century or so, then how can any element or human activity be attributed to an alleged rise in temperature across an entire continent? Is there really need to panic?
Perhaps the Earth’s atmosphere is too vast for any man-made activity to have a significant impact on the long-term temperature of a country, let alone the long-term temperature of the entire planet. Therefore, the raw data show that the climate change narrative is rooted in hysteria. Any collective action against cyclic weather patterns and an ever-changing climate is a delusional endeavor, especially when the average temperatures are not radically changing.
Cleaning up actual pollution is a noble goal, but manipulating temperature data to receive a government grant and advance geoengineering agendas is not an honest pursuit. This is a planet held together by celestial forces, affected by forces greater than man’s breath. Government’s attempts to manipulate natural processes to engineer a perfect climate and perfect weather conditions is futile — a waste of time, energy and tax money.
