Majority of Americans Feel Biden and the Federal Government Are Hurting Them, Study Shows
New POLL Should Have Democrats Very, Very Worried
(TheRedWire.com) – In 2021, Democrats spent nearly $2 trillion through the American Rescue Act. Economists say the legislation was responsible for injecting too much money into the economy as the country emerged from COVID-19, causing the initial spike in inflation that’s grown rampantly out of control. Now, a new Monmouth University poll said Americans are struggling thanks to high prices at the pump, grocery store, and virtually everywhere they spend money.
Most Americans say the government is hurting them, not helping them. The poll showed that 57% agree with that assessment. Only an astonishing 8% said the federal government was helping matters. Additionally, 40% say they’re struggling to hold onto their lifestyles as prices continue to rise and the value of their money drops.

Unsurprisingly, the top issues for voters heading into the midterms were inflation and gas prices. The poll comes as President Joe Biden continues to assert that the country is fighting inflation from an economically strong place instead of from weakness.
Political analysts and pundits believe the poll reinforces the perspective that Republicans have the advantage over Democrats heading into the November midterm elections. Democrats control both chambers of Congress and the White House, where President Biden is registering record-low approval ratings.
