Religious leaders have joined the World Economic Forum (WEF) in pushing the organization’s climate change narratives.
Pastor of First Baptist Church of Dallas, Robert Jeffress, told The Epoch Times, “I think this is a dangerous agenda, and it keeps the church from doing what its primary calling is, and that is to win people to faith in Jesus Christ,” adding, “We ought to be much more concerned about what God thinks.”
Pope Francis pushed climate alarmism during the COP 28 Summit, saying, “I am with you because the destruction of the environment is an offense against God, a sin that is not only personal but also structural, one that greatly endangers all human beings, especially the most vulnerable in our midst and threatens to unleash a conflict between generations. I am with you because climate change is ‘a global social issue and one intimately related to the dignity of human life.’”
Worldwide action against climate change is necessary, according to leading governing bodies.
One United Nations (U.N.) goal is to “take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.”
According to the group, humanity needs “deep, rapid and sustained GHG emission reductions by 43% by 2030 and to net zero by 2050.”
The WEF also has a report titled, “The Role of Faith in Systemic Global Challenges,” which examines “four reasons why climate change can’t be solved without religion.”
Some of those reasons include “global justice,” as “the concern for justice tends to be central” in religious traditions, and “spiritual depth,” explaining that “religion can create and inspire the stories, rituals and motivation needed for a change of lifestyle.”
In comparison, many scientists dispute the existence of a “climate emergency.”
In September, a coalition of 1,609 international scientists, the Global Climate Intelligence Group (CLINTEL), made headlines by saying, “Climate science should be less political, while climate policies should be more scientific.”
They mentioned, “The Little Ice Age only ended as recently as 1850. Therefore, it is no surprise that we now are experiencing a period of warming.”
According to CLINTEL, the current warming is happening at a pace “far slower” than what has been previously projected by bodies like the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
This coalition has also criticized the widely accepted climate models, claiming that they “exaggerate the effect of greenhouse gases” and neglect the benefits of atmospheric CO2.
They state that CO2, rather than being a detriment, is “essential” to life on Earth.
