WASHINGTON, DC- Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
That of course is the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights, contained in our United States Constitution. Unfortunately, members of Congress, in particular those with a “D” after their name, are either unfamiliar with our founding document, or simply choose to ignore it.
That is the case for one of the dumbest members of Congress, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX). Of course Lee has a lot of competition but she is clearly in the top three in the House.
Lee, who has proposed an insane reparations bill topped herself recently with H.R. 61, “Leading Against White Supremacy Act of 2023.” The bill, which has a title with that most right-thinking Americans can get behind, sadly goes completely off the rails, as reported in Breitbart News.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee has introduced a House Bill to criminalize “conspiracy to commit white supremacy,” which includes any criticism of non-white people that influences (such as something published or said online) someone who commits a hate crime. https://t.co/QD93bVJmA9 pic.twitter.com/ROwLtvYIha

The bill is designed to “prevent and prosecute white supremacy inspired hate crime and conspiracy to commit white supremacy hate crime.” Again, hate crimes are a bad thing, no matter the target—black, white, Asian, whatever.
The devil of course is in the details.
The bill, which has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee, states that a person engages in white supremacy inspired crime:
“…when white supremacy ideology has motivated the planning, development, preparation, or perpetration of actions that constituted a crime or were undertaken in furtherance of activity that, if effectuated, would have constituted a crime.”
Ok…not too bad so far. Lee then loses the narrative. The bill claims that “conspiracy” to engage in white supremacy inspired hate crime includes the publishing of material “advancing white supremacy, white supremacist ideology, antagonism based on ‘replacement theory,’ or hate speech that vilifies or is otherwise directed against any non-white person or group.” [emphasis added]
Hate speech. What it appears Lee is going for is any speech that criticizes non-whites. And that is a slippery slope.
The inclusion of the term “replacement theory” is an interesting addition to the bill, because this is an idea which has been pushed for years by Democrats, from Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to include our illustrious “president” Joe Biden.
Here’s Schumer recently touting illegal immigration as a means to facilitate “replacement”:
It was only when conservatives began to take notice that this was exactly the reasoning behind the open southern border that Democrats began to refer to the term “replacement theory” as racist hate speech.
The bill calls for the Department of Justice (as if they’re not already out of control) to gain “authority to conduct operations and activities pursuant” to what it deems “necessary and appropriate to interdict, mitigate, and prevent such action from culminating in violent activity.”
Further, the bill would give the DOJ authority to “prosecute” persons engaged in such actions, with “records of white supremacy inspired hate crimes” maintained and annual reports generated.
It isn’t surprising Democrats would make such a proposal with a Republican-led House, because clearly they will use Republicans’ expected opposition to the draconian nature of the bill as another “example of Republican Party racism.” Bet on it.
With Republicans holding a majority in House committees, it is not likely this bill will ever see the light of day, with Jim Jordan (R-OH) being the chairman of the Judiciary Committee.
One Republican who spoke out against the measure is Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO).
“In case you weren’t aware of what the Democrats were prioritizing in the 118th Congress, just take a look,” Boebert wrote. “When they’re not bankrupting our country, they’re busy making a mockery of the First Amendment.”

Conservative attorney Harmeet Dhillon, who is running to lead the Republican National Committee, likewise slammed Lee.
“Who wants to tell her about the First Amendment?” Dillon queried.

Lee was understandably eviscerated elsewhere on Twitter as well.
Under this bill. If I tweeted “Sheila Lee is dumber than a mentally ill rock,” and some person (predisposed to violence) is motivated by FBI provocateurs to threaten Lee after reading my tweet. I could be charged with a “White Supremacy Hate Crime” by the feds.

Sheila Jackson Lee should be introduced to the Bill of Rights. Particularly the first amendment pertaining to free speech.

She is literally a Communist totalitarian. #Orwellian

And to our point:
We should have a no reps with IQs under 80 law but we don’t and here we are…

To our other point:
Had she introduced this in the previous Congress when the Donks had a majority in the House? What happened to it? If she is just introducing it now, then it’s obviously a PR stunt, not a serious attempt at legislating.

This is clearly a publicity stunt by an empty skirt.
In the past, Lee has claimed that institutional and systemic racism “taints and spoils” the way America treats its minorities, while further claiming there are “aspects of America’s laws, America’s structure as relates to the black community in particular, and other communities that is racist.”
Racism is everywhere you see…milk is racist, dieting is racist, working out is racist…hell, everything is racist. Apparently the First Amendment is racist as well.
