The following is a summary of Informed Choice Maryland’s weekly published reports on adverse events following Covid-19 vaccination. These reports aggregate data extracted from the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) database, a voluntary reporting system established in 1990 by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to capture information on adverse events following vaccination.
Week of Friday, October 22nd

- This week the number of adverse events associated with Covid-19 vaccination reported to VAERS climbed to 818,044, a 0.45% increase of 19,408 reports over last week. This week we noted an ominous hallmark: after only 10 months of licensure for public use,Covid-19 associated adverse event reports comprise 50% of all reports captured in VAERS since its inception. Notably, deaths associated with Covid-19 vaccines jumped to17,128 deaths, including 362 new deaths.
214 deaths occurred in subjects under 30 years old, or 1.1% of all deaths- in a population with statistically minimal risk of death from Covid-19.
- Among those reported deaths, U.S. deaths associated with Covid-19 vaccination represent a staggering 69% of all U.S. deaths ever reported to VAERS.
- There were24,408 adverse events reported among children under age 18 this week – an increase of 422 events over last week. The total reported Covid-19 associated deaths among minors increased to 41this week, including one new death of a 12-year-old girl in South Carolina.
- There were11,795 adverse events reported in Maryland, up 114 from 11,681 reported last week, with3 new deaths reported. Over one-third of the90 reported deaths occurred in subjects under 65 years old.
- There were22,401total reported blood clots and/or thrombotic events this week, of which 1,222 (5.5%) were deaths, with the total number of clot-related adverse events up 1,251 from 21,150 last week.
- There were9,214 total reports of myocarditis and pericarditis this week, of which 136 were deaths and 954 were life-threatening, with the total number of events up 760 from 8,454 last week. This week682 carditis events, including81 which were life-threatening, were reported among children under 18years old. Fully 7.4% of the carditis events were reported in children, with 27% of all reported carditis events occurring in patients under 30 years old.
- There were2,079 reported pregnancy losses and stillbirths this week, up 101 from 1,978 last week. Pregnancy losses and stillbirths after Covid-19 vaccination comprise fully62% of all pregnancy losses reported to VAERS.
