This article from the Save Women’s Sports Blog says that Mississippi passed a bill requiring that athletes participate according to their sex, not gender identity. I say, YAY!
The “Mississippi Fairness Act” would require athletes to participate according their sex, not gender identity. In February, it the Senate passed it 34-9. On Wednesday, the House passed the bill with a vote of 81-28.
With Governor Reeves expected to sign the bill into law, they will become the second state to create such law. The first being Idaho in 2020 sponsored by Representative Barbara Ehardt. It was her love for coaching that led her to see the need for laws to protect female sports.
Mississippi Republican State Sen. Angela Hill, who sponsored the bill, said, “If we do not move to protect female sports from biological males who have an unfair physiological advantage, we will eventually no longer have female sports.”
She added, “This issue is imminent in Mississippi. We have to make a statement that women matter, female sports matter.”
The opposition tried to paint the bill as a “trans ban” with the Human Rights Campaign claiming Mississippi…
